Nashville Eats
My fiancé and I recently went to Nashville to get out of town and celebrate our engagement. Of course, we had a wonderful time eating our way around the city. We even fit in a last-minute engagement photo shoot with my talented friend, celebrity photographer Joseph Llanes while we were there. Here are a few restaurants with some excellent fare that I recommend you check out the next time you're in Music City.
CAFÉ AT BOBBY
Inside Bobby Hotel, (where we stayed while we were in town) is a small cafe that serves a small, but excellent, artisanal menu. I was blown away by the flavors that were injected into these often simple dishes.
Pan Roasted Salmon
The salmon featured complex layers of flavor and texture with the sweet corn, salty bacon, buttered succotash, fried okra, and pools of green goddess. So good!
Tomato Fennel Bisque with Brie croutons
Oh. My. God. These brie croutons definitely kicked up this tomato soup several notches. You bite into the crouton and taste the creamy, melty goodness inside and you're in heaven. It's magical.
Bobby Burger
Not your average burger, this one is fully loaded with cheddar, bacon, green tomato, lettuce, tomato, onion, topped with a toasted brioche bun and served with fries. But what really sells it is the chili jam --that wonderful hint of sweetness takes this burger to the next level.
O-KU SUSHI
A craving for sushi led us to this fantastic spot where we had some fresh sashimi, a couple of tasty rolls, and matcha cheesecake.
Usuzukuri
We loved their Usuzukuri --thinly sliced salmon, black lava salt, wasabi stem, and truffle ponzu.
Tennessee Two Step
The Tennessee Two Step roll with shrimp tempura, avocado, spicy tuna, salmon, spicy aioli, sweet soy glaze, and chive was delicious!
Black Magic
And the creative Black Magic roll with squid ink rice, fried lobster, crispy shallot, spicy aioli, and chive was incredible.
Matcha Cheesecake
The Matcha Cheesecake with berries was the perfect ending to our lovely meal.
THE CAFÉ AT THISTLE FARMS
I wanted Jerry and I to experience a real afternoon tea time together and found this quaint, quiet spot. Note: This is reservation only, at least 24 hours in advance.
Tea Service
Well done, Café at Thistle Farms! The mini sandwiches exceeded my expectations (I could definitely go for another chicken salad on a croissant and cucumber cream cheese sandwich right now!) as did the scones, and other sweet treats. The tea was good, the set up was cute, and the small spread (surprisingly) filled up my fiancé.
PASTARIA
Is it really a vacation if you don't have pizza? I need pizza at least once a week and this place had the best pizza photos online, so we went to check 'em out. I had the Margherita pizza and loved it.
Margherita Pizza
PUCKETT'S
I know Puckett's has good food as I stopped in for breakfast during my first visit to Nashville a couple of years ago. This time, I ordered from their lunch menu.
Fried Green Tomato BLT
When I saw that they serve Fried Green Tomato BLTs, I was sold. Yes, it was exactly what I hoped it would be. Fried green tomatoes topped with lots of crispy bacon, lettuce, pimento cheese, and pepper jelly on toasted sourdough bread. Goodness, it was so good! Sweet, salty, crunchy, cheesy... what more could you ask for in a meal?
